Job Description


Established in 2013 RDD is based over sites in Leicester and Sheffield. RDD is one of the leading providers of design development and manufacturing services for the retail industry. With 35+ employees the business requires an experienced Fabrication Manager to complete the team in Leicester.


Reporting to our Operations Director, the Fabrication Manager will be involved with the planning, coordination and control of the fabrication processes. They will ensure sure goods and services are produced efficiently to the highest quality, on time and within budget. This will vary from management of fabrication and assembly work as part of a prototype unit or batch run manufacture


A strong team manager, the Fabrication Manager will work alongside with other managers within the business as well as external clients and suppliers. The role covers the four main areas of the production process:


  • Planning – preparing orders, setting quality standards and estimating timescales and costs
  • Control – monitoring production and fabrication schedules and adjusting them if problems occur
  • Supervision – managing supervisors, organising, motivating and providing strategic direction to staff; ensuring targets are met and regular reviews undertaken
  • Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met by team and security of warehouse is upheld


However, you will be flexible to the ever-changing needs of the business.




  • The management of the fabrication process to meet deadlines and ensure quality control in collaboration with the Production, Assembly and Project Managers
  • Manage component requirements and delivery in collaboration with the Production, Assembly and Project Managers
  • Fabrication of components; sanding and gluing, heat bending etc. polishing, cleaning and packaging of finished units
  • Assist in maintenance of fabrication spreadsheets and collation of output data
  • Assist in creating fabrication plans with associated timescales and deadlines
  • Assist in the management of the Fabrication Team in collaboration with the Operations Manager
  • Assist in the preparation of projects for delivery
  • To ensure quality control of all incoming parts and outgoing deliveries
  • Supply chain management
  • Implement quality-control initiatives
  • Establishing, monitoring and measuring team KPI’s and targets
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of production team
  • Liaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand client requirements
  • Supervise and motivate a team of workers and identify individual and team training needs
  • Recruiting team members and appointing accordingly
  • Ensuring that site security and, health and safety regulations, are met and adhered to by the team
  • Reduction of waste and non-value-added process
  • Identification and implementation of best practise



Key Skills and Experience


  • Team Management
  • Excellent acrylic fabrication and all round good practical skills
  • The successful candidate will have a good eye for details and a very creative approach
  • They will work well as part of a team or as an individual completing specific tasks under direction
  • They will be flexible and able to manager their own time in a deadline driver environment




General Terms and Conditions

Base: Wanlip Street, Leicester

Hours: Full time/40 hours per week between 8.00am and 6.00pm

Bonus Scheme: Inclusion in the company bonus scheme TBC

Travel: You may be requested to travel to client sites throughout the UK

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £25,000.00 to £28,000.00 /year
