Working closely with the Workshop manager and supervisor, the Workshop Assistant is responsible for the operation of machines within the workshop, ensuring quality, accuracy and safety whilst respecting the defined goals. Constantly promoting efficiency and high standards through personal example, the Workshop Assistant has several core areas of responsibility:

 

1.      Production

  • Ensure deadlines are met by keeping to production schedule and advising supervisor of any issues immediately 

  • Operate the CNC Router and other machinery as delegated by the Workshop Supervisors

  • Undertake tasks related to the production of components/prototypes

  • Assist in the maintenance of the machine shop and surrounding area

  • Identify and request machine and tool maintenance

  • General tasks including assisting in Fabrication or other production teams as delegated by the Workshop Supervisors/General Managers

  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs with shift supervisor

  • Ensure shift handovers and effective, efficient, and accurate

  • Attend and contribute to quarterly team meeting and monthly sub-team meetings

 

2.    Lean Manufacturing

  • Assist in applying principles of 5S to department - maintain tidy workshop, including stock areas, machines and ensure areas around them are kept clean

  • Contribute to developing and implementing best practice within workshop team


3.    Sustainability

  • Identify waste reduction and other efficiencies in the workshop and warehouse

 

4.      Health and Safety

  • Work responsibly and report any concerns immediately

  • Ensure security of site is upheld

  • Ensure suitable PPE is always used

 

This role operates on shifts: currently 08:00 to 16:30 but may change


Salary up to £25,000 pa depending on skills and abilities that meet the job description.

  • Monday to Friday
